Players can also customize their ships to have a variety of weapons from lasers to machine guns and even parts that enable abilities to boost speed or scan targets quicker. There are many routes to success from fighting pirates to mining asteroids for profitable ore. Outside of the story, players can visit numerous space stations to accept side quests, buy new parts or ships, trade supplies, view the star map, and review mission briefings. The story is overly simplistic and offers a lackluster experience that takes about three to four hours for completion. After a few missions, they soon discover that their character will have to battle an alien force known as the Void in hopes to save the galaxy. Players begin the game with a novice ship and are a relatively unknown character. It may not share as much content as other full-fledged space titles, but it definitely borrows some of the roots from genre classics. ![]() However, this review is based toward gamers that have not played any of the series before and that are looking for a new game to test out their sleek Mac hardware.įans of Freelancer and other similar space exploration and combat games will feel at home with Galaxy on Fire 2. Fans of the title on iPhone and iPad will appreciate the added resolution for viewing a larger portion of the galaxy. The new release on computers is essentially the same content, but with added support for keyboard, mouse, and gamepad controls in addition to 1080p visuals. With the recent launch of the Mac App Store, Fishlabs has brought the series from portable devices to Apple computers with Galaxy on Fire 2 Full HD. Try to get 2 of each of the low cost ships and you should get the 50 ships total to get the medal (including the ship you fly in, that would be 51 ships total).The Galaxy on Fire series originally debuted on the iPhone and later on the iPad with its sequel providing more content and a larger galaxy to explore. The game does not keep track of how many unique ships you have, only how many ships you flew into the Kaamo Club. Once you have collected all the ships, it is possible to get the Ship Collector medal by flying 5 more duplicate ships to your Kaamo space station. The video below shows you all the ships available in the Galaxy on Fire 2 game without the SuperNova and Valkyrie expansions. Once you have that ship, you can easily get all of the rest of the ships. The VoidX ship above is the hardest to get. You are able to have enough to purchase the Kaamo Club space station by just selling these and on return trip Implants. They are very expensive, but very worthwhile. One way to make a lot of credit (money) in the game is to sell Organs or Vassk Organs. You can see it in this video upgraded to the max by visiting the Kaamo Club lounge. The most powerful ship (before getting the Kaamo Club space station) in the game is the Dark Angel. ![]() ![]() However, if you are able to get all the regular medals (achievements), you can unlock the ability to turn wingmen into groupies. You can command them to attack your target, protect a waypoint, etc. While on your missions, you can normally purchase wingmen to help you fight pirates. The following video shows these blueprints (near the end). Before obtaining Kaamo Club, you can obtain 13 blueprints that are the most powerful in the game. Very powerful weapons and customizations for your ship are available via blueprints that you need to build yourself. ![]()
